This year I’m doing not one but two panels at WorldCon – the second is ‘Hopepunk: Dystopia or Utopia?’ with Su J Sokol, Dr. Yen Ooi, and Juliet Kemp, with Mark Sabalauskas as moderator).
The dictionary describes hopepunk as a subgenre of speculative fiction and art that shows optimism, gentleness, kindness, and collaboration to be effective weapons in the fight to create a better future. But does it have its roots in dystopian or utopian fiction?
Find out more here – hope to see fellow WorldCon folks there!
